  • Here for sale is a used Conn 73h bass trombone. Comparable new instruments cost 4000-5000€.

About the history of this great instrument:

C.G.Conn is one of the leading American manufacturers of trombones.

You can feel the excellent quality of this American handwork immediately!

This 73h is one of the most popular trombone models, known for its warm and compact sound.

It was built in the 1970s and freshly overhauled by us.

What distinguishes this professional Conn 73h bass trombone:

    • Fat, compact sound, great especially for big band.
    • The two-valve bass trombone has the tuning Bb/F/D or Bb/F/Eb ( Two tuning slides are included).
    • The instrument has separate valve triggers (“split trigger”). Very pleasant.
    • The train is running well. No chrome abrasion.
    • This instrument has a cylindrical pull with 14.3mm / 0.562″ diameter. The bell is 241mm ( 9.5″)
    • Brass bell, brass slide.
    • As a lubricant, we recommend Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort for this 73h.

Condition of this 73h after intensive testing:

    • The train is running well. No chrome abrasion visible.
    • The tuning slides are freely movable
    • Stop felt is available.
    • The serial number B70XXX cannot be classified in the known lists, but according to the main engraving, it is clearly an instrument from about 1975-1980.
    • The instrument is lacquered. The paint is mostly well preserved, of course there are a few scratches.
    • The handles are in good condition
    • The instrument was recently overhauled by us and is now immediately optimally playable.

I am a professional musician myself and have tested this trombone intensively and found it to be in perfect condition. That is why we also give 2 years warranty.

    Included accessories:

    • The instrument comes with the original Conn case. This was slightly modified due to the rebuilt valve levers.

Recommendation from me as a professional musician:

    • The 73h is a great two valve bass trombone that can be used for all styles.
    • As a lubricant, we recommend Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort for this 73h.
    • The instrument should be cleaned regularly from the inside, e.g. with a Reka care set.

    – Generally not, as mouthpieces are a highly individual matter. If a mouthpiece is included, I write it explicitly in the item description. If you need a mouthpiece, I have a large selection. If you have any questions, please contact me.

    – As a rule, all instruments are overhauled and / or workshop serviced. I only sell instruments that are in such good condition that I would use them professionally myself. If an instrument is not directly playable, I will clearly state this in the item description.
