For sale here is a used King Symphony tenor trombone.
A very beautiful, early instrument for symphony orchestra.

About the history of this great instrument:

King is one of the world's largest and most recognized manufacturers of brass instruments.

The trombone offered here is an instrument "Made in USA".

You can immediately see and feel the high quality of workmanship of the instrument.

Many great "trombone heroes" such as JJ Johnson, Kai Winding, Ed Neumeister, Adrian Mears, Jiggs Whigham and many others play a King.

It was built around 1937 and we recently overhauled it.

This is not the King 5b "Symphony", but the "1480 Symphony" model. A different trombone from a different era!

What distinguishes this professional King:

  • Big, beautiful sound with very clear articulations.
  • The train runs great. Incredible for its age!
  • The slide is cylindrical with a 13.89mm/ .547" bore. The bell is 229mm/ 9" wide.
  • The trombone has an L-shank.
  • Yellow brass bell, nickel silver slide.
  • For this Symphony I recommend Yamaha Slide Lubricant or Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort.
  • There is no slide closure and no screw between the bell and the slide (so-called press fit). You quickly get used to it.
  • The serial number is 204XXX (ca. 1937).

Condition of this King after intensive testing:

  • The train runs great. No chrome loss.
  • The tuning slide is freely movable
  • Stop felt is available.
  • Rubber stopper / parquet protector is available.
  • The instrument is in good condition.
  • Beautiful, curved engraving.
  • The instrument has been stripped of varnish and has a light patina. The beautiful patina will continue to develop over time.
  • The handles are also in great condition
  • The instrument was recently overhauled by us and is now perfectly playable.
I am a professional musician myself and have tested this trombone thoroughly and found it to be flawless. That is why we offer a 2-year guarantee.

Accessories included:

  • The instrument comes with a high-quality, used ProTec gig bag.

Recommendation from me as a professional musician:

  • The King is a great trombone for classical music, but can also be used for the lower voices in a big band.
  • For this 4b I recommend Yamaha Slide Lubricant or Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort.
  • The instrument should be cleaned regularly from the inside, e.g. with a Reka care set.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is it possible to play the instruments in the store?

– Yes, during opening hours or by appointment in our shop with workshop in Mölln.

I have no way of coming to Mölln. Can I still play the instruments?

– Yes, that is possible. The easiest way is to place a normal order. Then you have a 30-day right of return after receiving the goods and can test the instrument at your leisure at home, in class or at a rehearsal. Shipping and returns are free for you in Germany anyway. If you still don't want to order, please contact us and we will find a solution.

Who is behind Elbblech?

– That's me, Felix Eilers, a professional trombonist and managing director. Instrument maker Danilo Neun works in the workshop and in sales in our shop in Mölln. We are also supported by our partner workshops "Trompetentobi".

Do you also buy instruments?

– Yes, please feel free to contact me via this page if you have something to offer.

Is it possible to contact you by telephone?

– Yes, please feel free to contact me via this page if you have something to offer.

Are the instruments delivered with a mouthpiece?

- New instruments are always delivered with a mouthpiece. Used instruments are not, in most cases. We have a large selection of mouthpieces and are happy to advise you individually when purchasing a mouthpiece.

Are the instruments playable straight away?

– As a rule, all instruments are serviced and/or serviced in a workshop. I only sell instruments that are in such good condition that I would use them professionally myself. If an instrument is not immediately playable, I write this clearly in the item description.

Do you also ship outside of Germany?

Yes, we have been shipping worldwide for many years.

Is it safe to buy from Elbblech?

– My customers say: “Yes!”. On Ebay, for example, I have over 500 positive reviews, 100% of which are positive and 5 stars in all subcategories. We now enjoy an excellent reputation worldwide for our services and products.
