For sale here is a used Conn 79h tenor trombone with quarter valve. This instrument is very sought after and extremely rare to find.

About the history of this great instrument:

CGConn is one of the leading American manufacturers of trombones.

You can feel the excellent quality of this American handcraft immediately!

This model was built in the small brass instrument making town of Elkhart in Indiana, USA.

The instruments from this Conn era are in high demand due to their outstanding sound and manufacturing quality.

The 79h is sought after worldwide and rare because it was only built for a few years and was played by stars like John Mosca. The instrument is great for both jazz and classical music.

It was built around 1969 and recently overhauled by us.

What distinguishes this professional Conn 79h tenor trombone:

  • Warm, round sound with a lot of character. Very malleable!
  • The train runs fine, no chrome loss.
  • This instrument has a cylindrical slide (single bore). The bore is .522" (13.26mm), the bell 8" (203mm).
  • The instrument is varnished.
  • Beautiful, large and handmade engraving.
  • For this 79h I recommend Yamaha Slide Lubricant or Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort.

Condition of this 79h after intensive testing:

  • The train runs great. No chrome loss.
  • The tuning slides are freely movable
  • Stop felt is available.
  • The water valve is closed.
  • The valve runs quickly and quietly.
  • Rubber stopper is available.
  • The paint is in good condition. Of course there are a few scratches.
  • The handles are in great condition.
  • The instrument was recently overhauled by us and is now perfectly playable.
I am a professional musician myself and have tested this trombone thoroughly and found it to be flawless. That is why we offer a 2-year guarantee.

Accessories included:

  • The instrument comes with the original Conn case.

Recommendation from me as a professional musician:

  • Your unique chance to own a beautifully preserved and incredibly rare 79h, made in Elkhart!
  • For this 42 I recommend Yamaha Slide Lubricant or Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort as a lubricant.
  • The instrument should be cleaned regularly from the inside, e.g. with a Reka care set.

– Yes, during opening hours or by appointment in our shop with workshop in Mölln.

I have no way of coming to Mölln. Can I still play the instruments?

– Yes, that is possible. The easiest way is to place a normal order. Then you have a 30-day right of return after receiving the goods and can test the instrument at your leisure at home, in class or at a rehearsal. Shipping and returns are free for you in Germany anyway. If you still don't want to order, please contact us and we will find a solution.

Is it possible to contact you by telephone?

– Yes, please feel free to contact me via this page if you have something to offer.

Are the instruments delivered with a mouthpiece?

- New instruments are always delivered with a mouthpiece. Used instruments are not, in most cases. We have a large selection of mouthpieces and are happy to advise you individually when purchasing a mouthpiece.

Are the instruments playable straight away?

– As a rule, all instruments are serviced and/or serviced in a workshop. I only sell instruments that are in such good condition that I would use them professionally myself. If an instrument is not immediately playable, I write this clearly in the item description.

Do you also ship outside of Germany?

Yes, we have been shipping worldwide for many years.

– My customers say: “Yes!”. On Ebay, for example, I have over 500 positive reviews, 100% of which are positive and 5 stars in all subcategories. We now enjoy an excellent reputation worldwide for our services and products.
