For sale here is a used Olds S24G bass trombone with a large shank. The instrument has a gold brass bell.

Comparable new instruments cost about 3500€

About the history of this great instrument:

Frank Ellsworth (FE) Olds was born in Medina, New York in 1861.

After working for Conn for some time, he began selling trombones in his own business in 1912.

Among the most famous Olds employees were Foster Reynolds and Zig Kanstul, both of whom were successful instrument makers under their own names.

The most popular Olds trombone models include the "Recording", "Super", "Opera" and the "P-22".

The instrument offered here was built in 1956 and has recently been overhauled by us for you.

What distinguishes this professional Olds trombone:

  • Very fast response, warm and characterful sound.
  • 2 independent valves with Bb/F/G/D tuning
  • The train runs well. Some wear.
  • This instrument has a cylindrical slide with .562"/14.3mm L-bore. The bell is Ø 9.5" (241mm)
  • Gold brass bell, nickel silver outer slide.
  • Made in Fullerton, California.
  • As a lubricant I recommend Olds Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort.
  • The serial number is 943XXX, 1956.

Condition of this Olds after intensive inspection:

  • The train runs well. Some wear.
  • The tuning slides are freely movable
  • Stop felt is available.
  • Rubber stopper is available.
  • The instrument is in good condition and can be played immediately.
  • The bell is varnished. In good condition, of course there are signs of wear such as scratches etc.
  • The handles are also in good condition.
  • The instrument was recently overhauled by us and is now perfectly playable.
I am a professional musician myself and have tested this trombone thoroughly and found it to be flawless. That is why we offer a 2-year guarantee.

Accessories included:

  • The instrument comes with the original Olds case.

Recommendation from me as a professional musician:

  • The S24G is a full-fledged 2-valve bass trombone, made in the USA at an affordable price.
  • I recommend Olds Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort as a lubricant.
  • The instrument should be cleaned regularly from the inside, e.g. with a Reka care set.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is it possible to play the instruments in the store?

– Yes, during opening hours or by appointment in our shop with workshop in Mölln.

I have no way of coming to Mölln. Can I still play the instruments?

– Yes, that is possible. The easiest way is to place a normal order. Then you have a 30-day right of return after receiving the goods and can test the instrument at your leisure at home, in class or at a rehearsal. Shipping and returns are free for you in Germany anyway. If you still don't want to order, please contact us and we will find a solution.

Who is behind Elbblech?

Is it possible to contact you by telephone?

– Yes, please feel free to contact me via this page if you have something to offer.

Are the instruments delivered with a mouthpiece?

- New instruments are always delivered with a mouthpiece. Used instruments are not, in most cases. We have a large selection of mouthpieces and are happy to advise you individually when purchasing a mouthpiece.

Are the instruments playable straight away?

– As a rule, all instruments are serviced and/or serviced in a workshop. I only sell instruments that are in such good condition that I would use them professionally myself. If an instrument is not immediately playable, I write this clearly in the item description.

Do you also ship outside of Germany?

Yes, we have been shipping worldwide for many years.

Is it safe to buy from Elbblech?

– My customers say: “Yes!”. On Ebay, for example, I have over 500 positive reviews, 100% of which are positive and 5 stars in all subcategories. We now enjoy an excellent reputation worldwide for our services and products.
