For sale here is a used Bach 42BO tenor trombone with quarter valve.

About the history of this great instrument:

The Bach 42 is, along with the Conn 88h, one of the most frequently played trombones in the classical field.

But she also does great in the lower voices of a big band.

Bach has been one of the leading American trombone manufacturers since 1924.

This trombone was made in Elkhart (Indiana). The small town is world-famous for the incredibly high quality of the instruments made there (not only by Bach).

It was built around 1995 and recently overhauled by us. The RRP is €5,045.00.

What distinguishes this professional Bach 42BO tenor trombone:

  • Nice, big sound.
  • The train runs fine, no chrome abrasion.
  • This instrument has a cylindrical slide with .547" (13.90mm) L-bore. The bell is Ø 8.5" (216.00mm)
  • Yellow brass bell, brass slide.
  • As a lubricant I recommend 42 Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort.
  • The serial number is 122XXX, circa 1995.

Condition of this 42 after intensive testing:

  • The train runs great. No chrome loss.
  • The tuning slides are freely movable
  • Stop felt is available.
  • Rubber stopper is available.
  • The paint is heavily used. Of course, this has no effect on the sound or function.
  • The valve runs quickly and quietly and is freshly adjusted.
  • The handles are also in good condition.
  • The instrument was recently overhauled by us and is now perfectly playable.
I am a professional musician myself and have tested this trombone thoroughly and found it to be flawless. That is why we offer a 2-year guarantee.

Accessories included:

  • The instrument comes with the used original Bach case (new model)

Recommendation from me as a professional musician:

  • The 42 is the first choice for many professionals for classical music, theater and musicals. It can also be used in lower voices in jazz.
  • For this 42 I recommend Yamaha Slide Lubricant or Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort as a lubricant.
  • The instrument should be cleaned regularly from the inside, e.g. with a Reka care set.

– Yes, during opening hours or by appointment in our shop with workshop in Mölln.

I have no way of coming to Mölln. Can I still play the instruments?

– Yes, that is possible. The easiest way is to place a normal order. Then you have a 30-day right of return after receiving the goods and can test the instrument at your leisure at home, in class or at a rehearsal. Shipping and returns are free for you in Germany anyway. If you still don't want to order, please contact us and we will find a solution.

Is it possible to contact you by telephone?

– Yes, please feel free to contact me via this page if you have something to offer.

Are the instruments delivered with a mouthpiece?

- New instruments are always delivered with a mouthpiece. Used instruments are not, in most cases. We have a large selection of mouthpieces and are happy to advise you individually when purchasing a mouthpiece.

Are the instruments playable straight away?

– As a rule, all instruments are serviced and/or serviced in a workshop. I only sell instruments that are in such good condition that I would use them professionally myself. If an instrument is not immediately playable, I write this clearly in the item description.

Do you also ship outside of Germany?

Yes, we have been shipping worldwide for many years.

– My customers say: “Yes!”. On Ebay, for example, I have over 500 positive reviews, 100% of which are positive and 5 stars in all subcategories. We now enjoy an excellent reputation worldwide for our services and products.
