For sale here is an extremely rare, early Bach 6vii Jazz tenor trombone from 1951.

About the history of this great instrument: The Vincent Bach Stradivarius 6vii is a great, highly sought-after American jazz trombone.

With its narrow bore and small bell, it is perfect for swing and dance bands, "sweet trombone playing" and everything that bears the name "Dorsey".

Because the master Tommy Dorsey himself blew this model.

Bach has been one of the leading American trombone manufacturers since 1924.

This early instrument is from 1951 and is in the 38XX serial numbers, even before (!) Bach moved to Mt. Vernon and later Elkhart.

It was built around 1951 and we recently overhauled it.

What distinguishes this professional Bach tenor trombone:
  • Singing, soft sound, easy to play in the high notes.
  • The train runs fine. No chrome loss.
  • The instrument has developed a beautiful vintage patina.
  • This instrument is a single-bore instrument (cylindrical) with an S-bore. The bore is 12.3mm (.485"), the bell is 178mm (7").
  • Yellow brass bell, yellow brass slide.
  • I recommend Bach Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort as a lubricant.
  • The serial number is 38XX, circa 1951.

Condition of this stream after intensive testing:
  • The train runs well. No chrome loss.
  • The tuning slide is freely movable
  • Stop felt is available.
  • Rubber stopper is available.
  • The instrument is in great condition for its age. Of course there are scratches etc.
  • The handles are also in good condition.
  • The instrument was recently overhauled by us and is now perfectly playable.
I am a professional musician myself and have tested this trombone thoroughly and found it to be flawless. That is why we offer a 2-year guarantee.

Included accessories: • The instrument comes with a black hardcase in "French style".

Recommendation from me as a professional musician:
  • This Bach 6vii is a sought-after vintage instrument, perfect for all 1st trombonists, swing musicians, old-time players, etc.
  • I recommend using Yamaha Slide Lubricant or Slide-O-Mix Rapid Comfort as a lubricant for this Bach.
  • The instrument should be cleaned regularly from the inside, e.g. with a Reka care set.

– Yes, during opening hours or by appointment in our shop with workshop in Mölln.

I have no way of coming to Mölln. Can I still play the instruments?

Are the instruments delivered with a mouthpiece?

- New instruments are always delivered with a mouthpiece. Used instruments are not, in most cases. We have a large selection of mouthpieces and are happy to advise you individually when purchasing a mouthpiece.

Are the instruments playable straight away?

– As a rule, all instruments are serviced and/or serviced in a workshop. I only sell instruments that are in such good condition that I would use them professionally myself. If an instrument is not immediately playable, I write this clearly in the item description.
